Paleo Bird in a Pie

My once-a-month cooking friends know how much I love Bird’s Nest Pie. It’s an awesome go-to meal. Spaghetti, mixed with an egg and Parmesan cheese, spread in a pan. Recipes for all sorts of upland game birds, including pheasant, wild turkey, quail, partridges, chukars, grouse, snipe and woodcock. This is a pot pie inspired by a recipe from English chef Fergus Henderson. This Paleo Shepherd’s Pie kills Two Birds with One Pie, with two delicious mash toppings!

Of course, the usual pumpkin pie is made with lots of sugar and a flower based crust, but nothing prevents us from making an even more delicious fresh nut crust with hazelnuts and pecans. This bird comes out looking and tasting great, and is sure to be a hit with the family, even if they don’t know they’re eating a Paleo approved turkey. There’s perhaps no other dish more expected than pumpkin pie than the turkey.
