Paleo Chapanas with Golden Raisins

Some places use sultana to refer to golden raisins. Golden raisins are treated with sulfur dioxide to give them the golden color. This sulfite is commonly used as a preservative in dried apricots and prunes, and is an allergen that can cause asthma and other health problems. My son loves raisin. I understand that it’s a fruit and the sugar content, but I never hear anyone talk about them. Are raisins avoided for some reason I am unaware of?
